How do I convert an image to text?
Upload a JPG, PNG or PDF file, select the language the text is written in and press Recognize. The extracted text appears in the editor, where you can copy it or download it as TXT, DOCX, ODF or PDF.
Which file formats and sizes are supported?
Images in JPG, JPEG and PNG up to 16 MB, and PDF documents up to 32 MB and 400 pages. When a PDF already contains a text layer the service takes that text; otherwise it recognizes the rendered pages.
Does img2txt recognize handwriting?
Yes. AI mode reads cursive handwriting, mixed pages, tables and formulas. It runs on our own GPU and is available in 41 countries; for clean printed text the regular Tesseract mode is faster.
Is img2txt free, and what are the limits?
Yes, and no registration is required. Regular mode has no daily document cap; AI mode is limited to 5 pages per day per visitor, because it runs on our own GPU; in countries where ad revenue covers the GPU costs there is no daily AI cap. Uploaded files are deleted automatically a few hours after processing.
Which recognition languages are supported?
122 languages, including English, Ukrainian, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Chinese. If a page mixes languages, you can select several of them for one file.
